After nearly three years enabling the success of my teams and our customers at Zapier, I’m in search of my next role as a Frontend (React) Engineer.
Beyond the technical experience I’ve gained, I’ve put significant energy into growing as an engineer and teammate that fosters a healthy and collaborative environment for my team and those we interact with by encouraging and emphasizing the importance of valuable “soft skills” (just to name a few):
Advocate for the integration of AI into customer-facing products as well as internal workflows when it makes sense, not just because it’s the trendy thing to do — employing critical thought is still of the utmost importance
Mentor new teammates, guiding them through becoming familiar with any systems, resources, and workflows that will be integral to their new role
Provide actionable feedback as needed or requested, both up to my manager as well as laterally across the members of my team
Smoothed the rough edges of practices generally accepted as "just the way they’ve always been done" by introducing modifications or complete substitutions that accomplish the same end result with less friction or synchronous coordination
Champion improvements that, while controlled by my team, directly affect another team — some of whom feel disenfranchised and unable to request the modification of significant pain points
Document the less obvious or unspoken rules and institutional knowledge as well as develop visual guides and/or detailed resources for the less easily distilled bits of knowledge required to perform our role
Make note (and facilitate the adoption) of the team’s agreed-upon best practices, putting safeguards in place where possible to greatly reduce the cognitive load needed to abide by them
Advocate for improvements to workflow, environment, productivity brought up by newer teammates or those who didn’t feel comfortable sharing the recommendation themselves
It is unlikely that I’ll ever be the brightest, most clever, quickest engineer on a team or within a company — but I endeavor to never leave my teammates feeling unsupported and out of the loop while we provide high-quality, impactful updates for our users.

developing a product/service focused on improving day-to-day life and/or upward economic mobility for the average human and is actually accessible for folks in low/middling social-economic groups

meaningful accommodation for folks with physical and/or cognitive deficits (as defined by the individual requesting or requiring accommodation)
emphasis on asynchronous communication paired with a reduction in team/company reliance on disruptive means of communication such as the need to monitor busy slack channels, or attend large/long meetings or calls
